Chiropractic Care to Support Nervous System Health

Did you know that a chiropractic care is more than just treating aches and pains? Adjustments can keep your body healthier and help with sinus problems, headaches, ear infections, digestive problems, cramps, and boost your immune system. In additional to these benefits, chiropractic adjustments also affects your nervous system and the communication from your brain to the rest of your body. In the spine, the spinal cord runs through each vertebral segment and spinal nerves branch off and go to every part of your body. There are motor nerves, sensory nerves, and nerves that control the function of your vital organs. Essentially, the brain and spinal cord direct everything else in the body and the spine forms to protect them. When chiropractors adjust the spine where the joint is hypomobile or fixated, they help restore the normal motion and function of that joint, as well as help re-balance the nervous system.

Nerve energy and the spine organ connectionEvery organ, tissue, and cell is controlled by the nervous system. The brain sends impulses or “life” down the spinal cord, out the nerves, and into every organ, tissue, and cell. This “life force” or energy should be flowing at 100% to its destination, and any less than 100% is categorized as disease. A lack of communication from the brain and flow of energy can be caused by a subluxation. When a joint is fixated or subluxated, it can cause irritation to the nerve roots exiting there. The nerve can become overstimulated or can have reduced function and signals from your brain to the body. The weight of a quarter on a nerve can cause up to a 60% decrease in the function of the nerve. A vertebrae impinging on a nerve will cause an even greater decrease. Chiropractic adjustments help restore these signals from our brain to our body, then allowing our bodies to function at the higher percent that they were meant to.

Unfortunately, spinal subluxation is a part of human existence even before birth. While sImage showing spinal sublixationtill inside of its mother, a baby is confined in a very small space. Additionally, when a baby goes through the birth canal, the babies head is twisted upon delivery. While growing up, children fall frequently–kids are constantly falling off bicycles, skates, trampolines, or playing sports and getting injured. Children and adults also spend a lot of time on computers, phones, and video games in sitting positions that position are not good for our neck and spines. God didn’t make us to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day! We also have car accidents, sports injuries, and can easily over strain our spines while working on the job or in the yard. Other factors that can cause subluxations are poor posture, poor work habits, stress, toxins, lack of rest, poor diet, and inactivity. All of these shocks are absorbed into the spine, causing subluxations. This frequent risk of spinal subluxation makes it crucial to be checked periodically by a chiropractor to stay as subluxation free as possible for optimal full body and nervous system health.

A chiropractic tune up is so much more than just a musculoskeletal pain reliever. Chiropractic care helps with every aspect of human health, the end result helping the whole body function better and stay healthier. Chiropractic care, beyond simple healing or curing, truly helps your body come one step closer to functioning at the best of its abilities. As Thomas Edison said, “The doctor of the future will give no medication, but will interest his patients in the care and condition of the human frame, diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
